What I Do

I work with small, mission-driven orgs doing good work that need clearer priorities and steadier operations. Together we map where you’re going, how the work should flow, and the basic tools and routines that keep things running.

Strategy and Direction

I develop concise 12–36 month strategic plans for small organizations. You get a clear snapshot of where you are now, defined stakeholders and programs, 3–5 priorities, and a simple timeline with next steps your team can realistically follow.

Crisis and Transition Help

I help with stabilization after major disruptions like leadership changes, funding loss, or operational breakdowns. You get a focused set of recommendations on what to protect, what to pause, and what to rebuild over the next few months.

Operations and Systems

I help design and document the basic workflows that keep your org running. I can also provide technical support and basic design services. If it's related to helping you run your organization, it's something I can help with.

Ongoing Support and Coaching

If you don’t have a specific project but want a knowledgeable sounding board or limited operational support, I provide ongoing support services. For a small number of orgs each year, I step in as interim operations lead to steady things and hand a workable system back to your staff.

Pricing

I prefer transparent pricing so you can plan. Most projects work out to an effective rate of $85–100/hour with a clear scope and a not-to-exceed cap so costs don’t drift. For clearly bounded work, we can use a flat project fee instead of tracking hours. Most small-org strategic plans and systems blueprints land in the $3,000–5,000 range depending on scope. Some clients start with a short roadmap or systems sprint, then continue with a monthly retainer for ongoing support. For very small organizations, I keep a limited number of tightly scoped engagements available at a lower price point.

Who I Am

Matthew Britt

I’m Matthew. I run Elmsong Nonprofit Solutions from rural North Texas.I’ve spent much of my career as the person small organizations rely on to make plans real, turning vague goals into clear priorities, simple structures, and written guides people can actually follow. I help mission-driven orgs get unstuck by turning scattered efforts into a focused plan and a simple way of running it.

Why Elmsong

I’ve spent over a decade in the “small, scrappy, and overwhelmed” space, often as the only staff person in the room.
I’ve sat in the executive seat at tiny orgs
• Regional director for a small health-education program with a six-figure budget
• Sole staffer handling budgets, reporting, partnerships, and day-to-day operations
• Built plans and structures across industries that people can actually use
Real-world systems and problem solving
• Helped a partner organization unwind a $29,000 accounting error and tighten month-end controls
• Designed and migrated a multi-region training program and curriculum through three LMS platforms
• Turned scattered documents and habits into strategic and operations guides staff could actually follow
I work quietly and practically
• Plain language, no jargon
• Focus on what must exist for your size, not an idealized corporate model
• Concrete plans and systems your team can run without me
